Here were two famous sons, Sir John Borlase Warren and Arthur Mee, a benefactoress of schools in Lady Caroline Warren, a mysterious Stone, the oldest ecclesiastical monument still standing in the county, and a plethora of factories and supporting infrastructure (a railway station and a canal shared with neighbouring Sandiacre).
