By Pauline Marples
This early post card of St Alban's Church Forest Town was posted in August 1916, five years after the church was dedicated.
The church was dedicated on July 2nd 1911 by the Bishop of Southwell, Bishop Edwyn Hoskyns and will this year be celebrating its centenary.
The architect of the church was Louis Ambler FRIBA and the builder was Messrs Charles J Vallance & Son.
The church which stands on a strategic point in Forest Town is at the cross roads of Old Mill Lane, Clipstone Road West and Pump Hollow Lane.
In the church yard are Commonwealth War Graves of Soldiers and one nurse who died at the nearby Clipstone Camp in World War One.
A War Memorial stands near the main gate and commemorates the men from Forest Town who died in World War One and World War Two.
