A well known Worksop newsagent who has been in business in the town for over 50 years Mrs Jane Beevers  later Mrs Jane Marsh (nee Jane Brown Taylor) of 51, Marecroft Worksop, died 1954. She had a large family, five sons and three daughters, one of them Miss Marion Beevers. At a family gathering recently there were 25 Grandchildren, and 52 Great Grandchildren

Miss Marion Beevers, a Worksop News Vendor for about 45 years, died in Worksop Kilton Hospital in 1982.  Miss Beevers, who was 72 began delivering papers when she was seven along with her brothers and sisters.

Her mother, Mrs Jayne Beevers, nee Brown Taylor delivered the first WORKSOP GUARDIAN off the potter Street press, and also sold “The Green Un” and “The Star”

When her mother died, Miss Beevers took over the business and from then until retirement in 1961 she only missed one week’s delivery which was due to an injury.

Her business was so successful that upon her retirement, four local newsagents were needed to split the deliveries between them.

Jane Brown Taylor was my Great Grandmother and Miss Marion Beevers was my Aunt.
