Bennerley Viaduct

Preserved wrought-iron lattice girder railway bridge

Bennerley viaduct at Awsworth is one of only two remaining wrough-iron lattice-girder bridges in the British isles.

It was built in 1887-88 and crosses the Erewash valley on 16 spans for 484 yards, carried on piers 56ft high.

It carried the GNR line from Nottingham Victoria to Derby Friargate.

Now abandoned - but preserved.
