The town's world-famous apple re-created in willow
By Nicola Ellis
Southwell is the place where the world famous Bramley apple was first reared. To celebrate 2014s Bramley Apple Festival Southwell Library, Newark & Sherwood and Southwell Town Council joined forces to create a huge apple.
Around 150 people, including local schools and scout groups popped into the library over the weekend on 18th & 19th October to help willow art specialist Carole Beavis create this fantastic piece of community art.
The apple remained on display in Southwell Library for a few weeks before it moved to its permanent home in The Bishops Palace Gardens.
Southwell Library also features on 2014's Bramley Apple Festival Tea Towel, which lists famous people and places of Southwell. Fame at last!
