Leamington Hall

Dr Jephson was a Medical Doctor, Philanthropist and surgeon. He was born in Sutton in Ashfield, and became Royal Leamington Spa’s first physician. Th e young Queen Victoria, Florence Nightingale, George VI, John Ruskin (Art Critic in the Victorian Era) and Joseph Grimaldi, the famous clown, visited him.

The Jephson Gardens and Jephson memorial, Leamington Spa are honoured to Dr Jephson. Dr Jephson is mentioned in Lindleys account of the history of Sutton in Ashfield.

Dr Jephson lived at the former Sherwood Hall, now Leamington Hall,The Twitchell, Sutton in Ashfield.
