Nottingham band from the 1980s

When legendary DJ John Peel presented his legendary Roadshow at Nottingham University (with Misty) on Friday 30th January 1981 he was passed a 12" single by Nottingham-based duo Kick Partners called 'Steel Workers' (Revolution Records).

He played it on his next Radio 1 show on Monday 2nd February 1981.

The Discogs website lists two other single releases by Kick Partners - 'Just My Imagination' Raw Records, 1983) and 'It's too Late' on Rabbit Records)

Kick Partners recorded a BBC session for Peel, broadcast 16th March 1983

In 1983 Kick Partners reached the finals of BBC One TV's "Battle of the Pop Bands" broadcast 17 May 1983 (7.10pm). Radio Times billing noted  "The culmination of a national competition when six bands battle it out to find the best new pop band this year. The finalists are: Dutch from Newcastle Moscow from Hull  Blase from Welwyn Garden City; Kick Partners from Nottingham; Umo Vogue from Bristol; Sugar Ray Five from Orpington"
