Private

From The Hucknall Dispatch, 31st December 1914:-

"Private Eli North has been on furlough at Hucknall for a few days and presents himself today for examination as to whether he has sufficiently recovered to return to war.  This warrior has had some stirring times at the front dating from the retreat from Mons.  He took part in the subsequent battles to Ypreswhere he was wounded in the knee by a bullet.  In the various engagements he became very near tyhe Germans and witnessed many awful sights"
