Gunner, Royal Field Artillery

From the Hucknall Dispatch, 24th December 1914:-

"Gunner E Pike.... saw a good deal of hard fighting from Mons to Scissons.  from these he emerged safely, but through some mishap in their own gunpit he sustained serious burns, as a result of which [he] is now in Netley Hospital, Southampton.  At one stage his life was depaired of, but a later message stated that he was now improving".
