Shipsides Garage in Newark

Memories

Jon Steel

Trying to remember Shipsides garage on the corner of Castlegate and Lombard Street in Newark in the 1960s.

Were they agents for Morris cars?

This photo is from the 1980s when Shipsides had closed, but you can still just make out the name Shipsides on the brickwork above the windows

This photo shows the premises being used used by Fleur de Lys who made vintage style vans.  You can just make them out in the windows.  The vans were actually made in Newark.

I'd be interested if anyone has photos of the vans, or anyone who worked making them

Does anyone know of any Fleur de Lys vans still on the road?
