Discover some fascinating local WW1 stories at this FREE, drop-in event in the historic Pavilion, a wartime hospital that cared for many wounded men.
* Displays and activities by local heritage groups: Beeston & District Local History Society, Flintham Village Museum, Great War Study Group, Lifelines, the Mercian Regiment Museum, Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, Radcliffe-on-Trent WW1 Group, Royal British Legion, Ruddington Village Museum, Western Front Association and West Bridgford & District Local History Society
* Short talks on a variety of interesting WW1 subjects
* ‘Behind the scenes’ tours of the Pavilion, exploring some of the rooms where volunteer nurses cared for injured servicemen
* A ‘Walk of Remembrance’ honouring the six NCCC cricketers who died in the war, featuring ‘There but not there’ silhouettes provided by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund.
(The silhouettes will be on various seats in front of the Pavilion, the only building at today’s Trent Bridge that the six players would have known. While walking around the six silhouettes, the visitors will pause at each one while a NCCC staff member or volunteer pays tribute to a fallen cricketer-soldier, followed by a few moments of silent reflection.)
Light refreshments and licensed bar available.
