Private, 2nd Btn., Grenadier Guards

From The Hucknall Dispatch, 24th December, 1914:-

".... Our readers will be pleased to hear that...  [Wellbourn has been] resting from trench work for a short time, but [is now] ready to return and give the Germans some more 'hokey', as [he] aptly describes their powder and shot....  In a letter to his wife Wellbourn refers to the high praise bestowed upon the Grenadiers from the King downwards.  The Germans would remember the Grenadiers, and he considers they deserve all they get for the damage they have done too terrible to relate".
