The Stocks at Worksop

Robert White, in his Dukery Records (1904, p.313) makes mention of the STOCKS in front of the gatehouse at Worksop. 

Referring to the engraving shown he says:-

"The old parish stocks used to occupy the position where the posts are represented in the engraving of the Gatehouse; [I] remember them quite well, and also the Churchwardens making their Sunday morning perambulations to find occupants for them" (Stocks being commonly used for the punishment of 'Sabbath breakers')
