Could anyone please advise as to location of Sherwood Furnace, apparently functioning in 1890
This is difficult, but I'm guessing it means Sherwood, the Nottingham suburb, rather than Sherwood Forest. In trade directories of the 1890s there was a Caddy & Co. (listed under both 'Furnace' and 'Iron Founders') in the Mansfield Road. One version of their address said 'Daybrook', so unfortunately it was probably too far up the road to count as Sherwood. No 'Sherwood Furnace' was listed in the directories at Mansfield Library, though the City Library in Angel Row will have more detailed Nottingham information.
