Re: Unknown Bookplate

Possible identification as belonging to the Rev. Joseph Sikes of Newark

With reference to the 'Unknown Bookplate' shown on the accompanying page on this website, I am wondering if it might belong to the Rev. Jospeh Sikes of Newark.

Sikes lived at the Chauntry House on Appletongate, Newark, (now demolished) and the picture below shows the house with his coat of arms underneath.

Its certainly similar to that depicted in the 'Unknown bookplate', but is it his?
