From the South Notts Advertiser, 12th March 1958

"Two years ago Mr Kohn Morley of Union street, Bingham, retired.  Now he has started work again.  And Mr Morley is 83 years old.

Since he was 18 Mr Morley, who is a widow and lives with his daughter, has been in the butchering trade.  Now he is back again serving behind the counter in Downing's butchers's shop in Bingham Market Place...

And he prefers work to being retired... "When you sit at home all the time you get depressed"

Before he retired Mr Morley worked for 12 years with the Netherfield firm of E.J. Cope & Sons.

During the first world war he went into the Army Service Corps - as a butcher.  He came out as band sergeant.

For 50 years of his life Mr Morley was a member of Bingham Band.

Main difference between the trade and when Mr Morley first started 65 years ago?  "When I first started you could buy a pound of steak for 1s.", he said.

So now Mr Morley starts his business life all over again.  "Its better than being on the retired list", he says.
