Annesley - An Introduction
Annesley Old Church
The church stands in the grounds of Annesley Hall. It was built in the 14th century, though it is now sadly decayed. The majority of the furnishings and masonry were salvaged in the 19th century and removed to the present church of All Saints (See picture below)

"There are two Annesleys, a new and an old, but with the former we have no concern, beyond to state the fact that it has grown up round a colliery, and that a church has been added on the summit of the hill. This church was destroyed by an incendiary on 17th January 1907.
"Near the hall, the seat of the Chaworth Musters family and the home of Byron's Mary Chaworth, is the old church (All Saints) now deserted...... It is now in the possession of Mrs Musters of Wiverton Hall".
