Nottingham ’s  Palais de Danse opened on the corner of King Edward Street, John Street and Convent Street (now Upper Parliament Street) on 24 April 1925.

The outside is distinguished by the large ornate globe above the entrance. Inside, it had colourful frescos running round the walls. The Palais could accommodate up to 1,000 dancers at any one time In the early days, music was often broadcast on the radio from the venue.

During the late 1980s, the Palais de Danse became the popular nightclub Ritzys. It was refurbished in about 2004.
