Born in Cambridgeshire in 1894, but moved to Mansfield in 1915. Died 17th October 1917.
Son of Annie & James Creamer Sr. He was born in the village of Upwell, Cambridgeshire, in 1894.
His father and brothers were farm labourers and the seven children were born in six different farm locations. In 1915 the whole family of thirteen moved to the White House on Sutton Road in Mansfield.
James William Creamer joined the Sherwood Foresters in 1915.
In the studio portrait opposite, Private James Creamer stands behind a Lewis Gun. It is not loaded (no circular magazine is visible), and James Creamer does not yet bear the stripe that will denote his promotion to Lance-Corporal. Note the pistol - carried as a personal sidearm.
He was killed on Thursday 17th October 1918 - just four weeks before the war ended. He was buried at Fresnoy le Grand Cemetery, France.
