Instrumentalist, active 1794 - 1815

Doane's Musical Directory of 1794 (1) listed Joseph Smedley  of Trowell in Nottinghamshire as being proficient on the oboe, violincello, violin and bass.

He is further credited as a participant in the Handel concerts at Westminster abbey, and as a subscriber to the New Musical Fund, being named in the annual benefit programme as late as 1815.
