Bosworth road school, Nottingham

My name was Lyn Dickenson, I went to Bosworth road school between 1950 and 1955. From here I went to deering school. I lived in the meadows, 3 Bosworth road, my sisters were Pam and Audrey. Pam got married and was Tooby she had 5 children- Paul, Jackie, Patrick, Marie and Kevin. Unfortunately Marie died at the age of 3 due to a car accident on Wilfred road. Since then Kevin has died, he lived near the Humber bridge. Jackie died on New year's Day of last year. I met with Patrick and Paul at Jackie's funeral at Wilfred hill. I now live in the Scottish borders with my family.

Life in the meadows was full of life and laughter. I can remember Miss Gamble, she had a habit of throwing the blackboard rubber at you in class. Also remember Billy Green, Peter Sparks, Carol Hall, Linda Hardy, Jean hancock, Hilda Herrard and many, many others. Also remember Clara and Ben at the fish shop in briers street and Annie Keeling at the off lisence on Bosworth road. This place holds so many memories, both happy and sad but I would never change a thing.

Hello Lyn

My name is Roy Hardy, the brother of Linda Hardy (now Hill). Linda is well and living in Bakersfield near my other sister Mavis. She has been married for ages and has a son Stephen who is around 50 ish years old. We lived at 3 Bosworth terrace Briar Street and all those names you mention all lived in Bosworth Terrace Billy "Knobby"Green Peter "Plug" Sparks Jeannie Hancock and Carol Hall.Carol was one of Lindas biggest friends and I recall them always arguing about how good or bad Cliff Richard was !! I well remember Annie and Jimmy Keeling at the beer off on the corner, as well as Mr Day the newsagent on the opposite corner, The Clifton pub ( especially during penny for the guy nights when they were chucking out) Clara Parr and Ben at the chip shop and me going across for a tanner mix. I went to Bosseyed kippers and then on to Monkeydella, but I gave it up and went to work on Wilford road before moving into a career in International sales and working in many countries across Europe. I lived Spain for 10 years but wanted to return when our daughter was dangerously ill last year and I have to say I did miss Nottingham. As the old saying goes "you can take the boy out of Nottingham but you cannot take Nottingham out of the boy"

I remember the Meadows with great fondness and communities like that will never re-appear sadly

I went to Bosworth School around 1973/74. We lived on Salisbury Terrace, across the road from the Working Mens club I think.  We moved in 1974 to Top Valley as part of the renovation of the area.
