 In 1892 Walter Straw of St Michael’s Street, Sutton in Ashfield discovered eight skeletons, surrounded by seven other skeletons in his garden. One of the skulls, intact and preserved, was submitted along with a sketch plan to the British Museum where it was determined the skull derived from the Neo-Lithic period, 3,000 years ago.A silver denarius depicting Caius Claudius Pulcher was found, in good condition, in Bathwood Drive in 1930 by Albert Walton. This was believed to date back to BC 91.
