The Scarlet Runners was a nickname for Skegby Ladies Hockey Team.

The reason ?

They wore scarlet tunics !

The photograph was taken C1929

Hilda Tucker was headmistress of Teversal School.  She gave her pupils a good musical education, and formed her fellow hockey players into a choir.  With various commitments, the choir disbanded, but was reformed following a reunion C1950.  The choir did well locally in the music festival.

Irene Higginson became a clerk at the Education Office on Station Road.

Ina Tongue became a teacher at Healdswood Boys School.

Norah Rainsbury was daughter of Dr Rainsbury of Fackley Road, Stanton Hill

This certainly looks like one of the Leverton sisters, my aunts. Probably Phyllis, age 16 in 1929. I will research further. Is there a better copy of the photo, please?
