Photographs and information

By Valerie Saunders

I'd love to get hold of photographs taken at Bosworth School during the period 1942-1949.   I was Mary in the Nativity Play in the top class of the Infant School (app.1944-45), and also took part in the Quincentenary celebrations. We danced on the Forest, or somewhere similar, and wore black dirndl skirts with about three rows of braiding around the bottom. I have no photographs of either of these events.  In the junior school we also had a big book in which pupils' good compositions were put, together with a photograph.  Are these kind of records still kept anywhere, or were they all destroyed?

I had a photograph of a group of us holding marionettes that we had made in Mr. Murphy's class; I'd love to get hold of a copy of this - for some reason I was wearing my guide uniform!  I remember a boy called Ernest was on the photograph.  My best friend at the time was Patsy Priestly.  I remember many other girls, who went onto Trent Bridge - Joan Turner, Barbara Cawthorne, Barbara Glover, Gill Flowers, etc.  Boys - Gordon Carver, Colin Crackle, David Buckingham, etc.  WHERE ARE YOU NOW?

I've also come across this other site with more information.   So sorry to hear about Jill Flowers. Wonder how many others we've lost.  There's a message at the end of your note from the Administrator saying an email could be forwarded by ournottinghamshire@gmail.com but when I went into this it says 'the default mail client is not properly installed', so no joy there.   I've also checked the Nottingham directory but can't see a match for either you, or Ernest.  My number isn't in there either - probably because I don't have BT internet, etc.

If you can think of any way to make contact I would appreciate it.

Regards,

Valerie Saunders Petef

I was thrilled when Peter Dawson and I were able to make contact; his brother, Ernest, had the photograph that I referred to earlier, and I am presenting it here.  I don't know who the boy on the extreme left-hand side is, Ernest is next, standing on a chair, the next boy I believe is Colin Crackle, Gordon Carver, me (in Guide uniform!), Patsy Priestley standing on a chair, and I can't remember the name of the girl on the right-hand side.  Perhaps someone can fill in these two blank names.

Peter also lent me the second photograph, which is of pupils at the Deering School coming home across the Toll Bridge. Perhaps some of you might recognise either yourself, or friends.
