John Williamson, village schoolmaster
A Victorian village schoolmaster
But Sir, it doesn't say no balloons in the rules, Sir
We have to announce the death of Mr. John Williamson, at the schoolhouse midway between North and South Clifton, in the 74th year of his age, after a short illness. He had performed the duty of parish clerk, sexton, and village schoolmaster for a period of 38 years, during which time he interred more than 400 bodies in the parish churchyard. He was followed to the grave by a great many of the inhabitants of North and South Clifton, by whom he was much respected.
